Mountain View takes leap into the future

BUILDING ANCHORAGE ANCHORAGE, MAT-SU REAL ESTATE

What: A three-story building with retail space on the first floor and apartments above. The project cost is about $4 million, said Jeff Judd, vice president for development at Cook Inlet Housing Authority, the developer.

Where: 4211 Mountain View Drive.

Who: The architect is Koonce Pfeffer Bettis. Epple said Boslough's major subcontractors include BC Excavating, Legend Electric, Ingersoll Heating & Sheet Metal, Mantech Mechanical and Capitol Glass & Northerm Windows.

Why: This building is part of the third phase of a three-year plan to revitalize housing in the Mountain View neighborhood, Judd said. The rest of the third phase involves tearing down 24 housing buildings built in the 1940s and 1950s and replacing them with single-family houses. Cook Inlet has redeveloped 86 sites in the last three years, Judd said.

When: The project should be habitable in April, Judd said. Epple said Boslough plans to finish the project, which includes landscaping, in mid-June. 6.02% (6.10% last week)
