FAIRBANKS -- An attempted traffic stop in South Fairbanks led to an Alaska State Trooper shooting and wounding a man Friday night, troopers said.
The shooting occurred after a trooper attempted to stop a 2007 Suburban on Van Horn Road. Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said a pursuit followed and the trooper shot a man in the vehicle. The injured man was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
Troopers would not release additional details.
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has taken over investigation of the case, Peters said. That is standard procedure when a trooper is involved in a shooting.
The name of the trooper involved in the shooting will not be released for three business days, Peters said.
Nobody had been charged in the incident as of Saturday.
