WASILLA: Troopers say suspect fired shotgun through a door.
WASILLA -- A late-night argument over building materials ended early Monday with one man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the stomach and another in jail, Alaska State Troopers said.
According to troopers, Kenneth Goldbury, 54, of Wasilla was drinking with another man at the Roadside Inn bar in downtown Wasilla when they started arguing about drywall.
Goldbury then left to go to his room, troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said. The other man followed, "kept knocking on the door and Mr. Goldbury ultimately fired a shot (from a 12-gauge shotgun) through the door," she said.
Troopers, who responded to the inn just after midnight, charged Goldbury with assault, misconduct involving weapons and criminal mischief.
He was being held Monday at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash-only bail.
The victim, whose name was not available, was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. Peters said his injuries were not life-threatening.
