Blaze destroys Eagle River home; 1 treated for smoke inhalation

An Eagle River house burned to the ground Saturday night, sending one person to the hospital with smoke inhalation, the Anchorage Fire Department said. The injured person was not named because of privacy laws. Deputy Chief Bridget Bushue said the person was not a firefighter.

The home, at 11627 Celestial St., caught fire at 9:30 p.m. Firefighters haven't yet determined how.

Within minutes of arriving, firefighters saw that the adjacent home also had caught fire, along with the overhead power lines and connecting poles.

The fire was under control by about 10:45 p.m.

The destroyed home was valued at $300,000. The neighbor's home sustained about $25,000 in damage
