A 9-year-old boy is believed dead and his 12-year-old brother is in critical condition after a fire Wednesday night in a mobile home near Wasilla.
Alaska State Troopers said they were called to the home off Sylvan Road about 11 p.m. after two men driving by saw the fire. One man called for help while the other man ran into the home and helped pull out the 12-year-old boy.
Troopers are seeking any information on the two men who they describe as good Samaritans. Troopers say they believe one man received some arm and hand burns in rescuing the older boy and that he was unable to return to the residence to help the second boy due to the intensity of the fire.
The mobile home was destroyed by the fire and a body, believed to be that of the younger brother, was found near the front door of the residence, troopers said. The two boys were at home alone when the fire started, troopers said.
