Troopers said Howell N. Powder, 50, was northbound on Wasilla Fishhook on his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle at about 2 p.m. A 1988 Ford F-250 pickup, driven by Clinton Hayes, 21, of Wasilla, made a right turn onto the road.

Powder tried to avoid the collision but lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle, troopers said. He was struck by the pickup.

Powder was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin arrived at the scene and was notified of his death, troopers said.

Hayes was not injured.

Powder was wearing a helmet.

An investigation is continuing.
