Troopers said Joseph Degroff, 24, of Wasilla was driving his Chevy Blazer north on the Glenn shortly before 2 p.m. when he ran off the road into the median.

The Blazer rolled several times, coming to rest in the southbound lanes of the highway, troopers said. The vehicle caught fire as Degroff and his passenger, 21-year-old Jennifer Hayes of Wasilla, were exiting through the passenger window.

Mat-Su firefighters responded and put out the fire, and Degroff and Hayes were transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Troopers said Degroff was cited for failure to exercise due care.
