NAPASKIAK -- A father and daughter overdue from a hunting trip were found by a Napaskiak search and rescue team Saturday, according to Alaska State Troopers.
"They were said to be suffering from hypothermia and frostbite," said Sgt. Perry Barr.
Brian Waters, 51, and his 12-year-old daughter, Rochelle Belloc, were expected to return from a trip near Eek at 9 p.m. Friday. But early Saturday morning, Bethel police contacted troopers, saying the pair had not returned.
Troopers searched from the air, while snowmachine search teams left from nearby villages. The father and daughter were found Saturday afternoon about five miles from Napaskiak, Barr said.
The pair were taken to a Bethel hospital for treatment, he said.
Barr said temperatures in Bethel on Saturday were about 15 or 20 below, and reminded travelers to be sure to give friends, family or authorities a trip plan that says where you're leaving from, where you're going and when you expect to be back. Trip plans should also list the type and number of vehicles you're taking, plus communications equipment -- radios, or cell phones -- you'll have with you.
