FAIRBANKS -- Alaska's newest Supreme Court justice has taken his oath of office in Fairbanks.
Fifty-four-year-old Daniel Winfree was appointed to the bench last year by Gov. Sarah Palin after Justice Alexander Bryner retired from the court.
Winfree has practiced law in Alaska since 1981.
He most recently served as director and general counsel for the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation.
Winfree remained modest about his appointment at his swearing-in Tuesday.
He says he's always been just a kid from Fairbanks and intends to stay that way.
