AKIACHAK -- A man who fired off a half dozen shotgun rounds inside a home he barricaded himself in as he punched and choked his girlfriend is facing assault and weapons charges, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Moses Nick Jr., 28, is also accused of pointing the shotgun at his 5-year-old daughter's face during the altercation early Thursday morning, troopers said.
An intoxicated Nick left his home about 2 a.m., then returned with a shotgun, firing two rounds outside the home while his girlfriend and three children were inside, troopers said. Nick went inside and continued firing, shooting off three or four more rounds while his girlfriend tried to disarm him, troopers said.
During the struggle, Nick pointed the weapon at his daughter's face, then punched and choked his girlfriend, troopers said.
He later turned himself in to the Akiachak Public Safety Department and was taken to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center, where he was being held on a probation violation. Assault and weapons charges are pending, troopers said.
