CLEVELAND -- Six high school students from Alaska picked Cleveland for their senior trip and fulfilled a dream when they met NBA All-Star LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"It was pretty crazy," said Cory Madros of the Andrew K. Demoski School in Nulato, 375 miles northwest of Anchorage. Students raised nearly $20,000 for the trip.
In addition to two Cavs games, including a meeting with James during halftime Wednesday night, they visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the zoo, and went to the movies, the mall and an Indians game.
They also visited suburban Shaker Heights High School, where students wanted to know if the visitors live in igloos. The answer: They have one- and two-room houses, mostly built of wood.
The visitors were impressed with Cleveland's size, skyscrapers, Lake Erie and brick mansions.
Their destination Thursday was Niagara Falls.
