The 39-year-old man, whose name was being held pending next-of-kin notification, died Thursday on the fishing vessel Zenith about 72 miles southeast of False Pass, the Coast Guard reported.

The vessel's crew contacted the Coast Guard at about 8 p.m., reporting they had found the man unconscious after he had been repairing an apparent gas leak, the Coast Guard said. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The Seattle-based Zenith, owned by Jubilee Fisheries Inc., was going to Sand Point, where Coast Guard officials could begin their investigation.
