The Anchorage School District has announced the appointments of seven new elementary school principals for next school year.
All but two of those promoted to the positions are already with the district in assistant principal or principal positions. Chris Woodward, a principal in the Lower Kuskokwim School District, will take over the helm at Mountain View Elementary. Michael Day is leaving his principal job in Nulato to take over Kasuun Elementary.
Also, Ed Graff, currently principal at Rogers Park Elementary, will be executive director of elementary education.
The other new principals are:
Sam Spinella at Benny Benson. Spinella is currently assistant principal at East High.
Roger LeBlanc at Fairview Elementary. LeBlanc is currently principal at Mountain View Elementary.
Mike Hanley at Kincaid Elementary. Hanley is currently principal at Kasuun Elementary.
Lori Cheek at Ptarmigan Elementary. Cheek is currently assistant principal at Bowman and Willow Crest.
Brandon Locke at Rogers Park Elementary. Locke is currently assistant principal at Begich Middle School.
Kim Bautista at Susitna Elementary. Bautista is currently the assistant principal at North Star and Ptarmigan schools.
