Drivers on the Kenai Peninsula will be under scrutiny over the weekend.
Law-enforcement officers will be conducting specialized traffic enforcement Friday through Sunday.
Alaska State Troopers and Kenai Police are participating along the Seward and Sterling highways in marked and unmarked cars, supported by airplanes.
Officers will look for motorists driving erratically, speeding and passing in no-passing zones.
Drivers also can be pulled over for equipment violations.
The goal is to get drivers to practice safe summer driving techniques on highways that see a huge increase in traffic during the tourist season.
Specialized traffic enforcement will be repeated several times this summer.
