JUNEAU -- A federal agency plans to release a draft report governing helicopters on the Juneau Icefield.

The U.S. Forest Service's draft will be released during a public hearing tonight.

Residents have long complained about the noise the helicopters make as they fly overhead.

Last year, the icefield had about 17,000 landings, even though 22,000 had been approved in a 2002 decision.

The agency is reviewing that decision to decide whether its science on noise, wildlife harassment or other potential problems in it is still valid.
