KIVALINA -- A Kotzebue jury needed only 36 minutes to convict a 41-year-old Kivalina man of first- and second-degree sexual assault, Alaska State Troopers say.
Roy D. Adams was charged after troopers investigated a report in April 2007 that he had assaulted a woman in the village. During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence of prior but unreported sexual abuse of the same victim by Adams, troopers said in a written statement.
After a three-day trial, the jury returned guilty verdicts on both counts.
Sentencing is set for August in Kotzebue.
