DENALI NATIONAL PARK -- Five climbers have now reached the summit of Mount McKinley, according to the National Park Service, with good weather likely to help many more reach the highest point in North America soon.
Partly cloudy skies are forecast for today in Denali National Park by the National Weather Service.
The park service reports that 222 climbers are on the mountain and a total of 1,131 have registered for this climbing season.
Lianne Noble of Scotland and guide Zach Schlosar of Eagle River on Monday became the first to reach the summit this season.
Last season, 573 of the 1,218 climbers on the mountain reached the summit. The 775 climbers who summitted in 2005 is the all-time high.
