WHITTIER -- A Coast Guard rescue helicopter was in the right place at the right time Saturday while on a patrol over Prince William Sound.
The MH-60 Jayhawk was flying over Whittier when the crew saw about 20 snowmachiners on the ground signaling for help.
As it hovered at 1,000 feet, the helicopter lowered Petty Officer 2nd Class Obrien Hollow to a mountainside with a 30-degree incline. Hollow examined a man who had injured his back while making jumps on his snowmachine and helped hoist the man to the helicopter.
The man was transported to a waiting ambulance, the Coast Guard reported. His identity and condition were not known Sunday.
