When tickets for Elton John's first-ever Anchorage concert went on sale May 5, they sold out in 58 minutes. Fans who missed the chance to see the pop superstar at the Sullivan Arena on May 28 grieved loudly and, within hours, the promoter had added a second performance on May 30.
Tickets for that show became available at 10 a.m. Monday and sold out in 55 minutes, according to Tanya Pont, director of marketing for SMG of Alaska Inc., which manages the Sullivan.
"It's Elton. He's magic," said Joe Wooten, SMG's regional general manager.
Alas, there won't be a third Anchorage show at this time, Wooten said. John's schedule, which has him doing back-to-back Las Vegas performances starting in early June, won't allow it.<
