The Alaska Supreme Court on Thursday suspended the law license of Jim Clark, chief of staff to former Gov. Frank Murkowski.

Clark, a Juneau attorney, pleaded guilty in March to a federal fraud charge for accepting illegal campaign help from Veco for Murkowski's failed 2004 re-election bid.
Clark is reportedly cooperating with the FBI in its ongoing investigation into political corruption in Alaska. His sentencing is tentatively set for September.
The Alaska Bar Association initiated action to suspend Clark's license to practice law shortly after his plea. Clark filed a written opposition to the action, said Steve Van Goor, discipline counsel for the bar association.
The suspension issued Thursday is an interim measure pending a full disciplinary hearing and is effective immediately.
