CANTWELL -- A single-vehicle motorcycle accident on the Parks Highway early Monday morning left one man dead, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Salcha resident James Kinchen, 23, was traveling south near Mile 206 when he lost control of his 2007 Kawasaki and crashed, troopers said. Kinchen died on the scene.
The accident was reported to troopers at about 4:20 a.m., although there were no witnesses to the crash, troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen said.
Because there were no witnesses, it was not immediately clear what made him lose control of the bike. Speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors, Ipsen said. Kinchen was wearing a helmet, she said.
Troopers took a blood sample to perform a standard toxicology screening and were still investigating the crash, she said. It is possible he fell asleep while driving, Ipsen said.
