A man convicted of receiving and distributing hundreds of child pornography images was sentenced Thursday to serve 20 years in prison, according to the U.S. attorney.
Randy D. Winslow, 42, of Tilton, Ill., was also sentenced to be on 10 years of supervised released for his crime, prosecutors said.
Winslow was accused of using the Yahoo Instant Messenger screen name "lonelyfunman" while he chatted with an undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Anchorage. He subsequently sent the investigator 23 digital images of pre-pubescent children, five of which "lasciviously exhibited the children's genitals," prosecutors said.
Winslow told the investigator he had "a lot of kiddie porn," prosecutors said. He also said children could be trained to think certain conduct was normal and that they should not tell anyone, they said.
He was arrested in May 2007 and a forensic examination of his computer determined he had been using peer-to-peer networks to swap the porn, prosecutors said. Investigators eventually located more than 600 child porn images, they said.
Before imposing the sentence, Judge Timothy Burgess noted that Winslow has a previous conviction for child solicitation. In that case, Winslow sent a threatening letter to the parent of the child, prosecutors said. Such conduct warrants the stiff sentence and the post-release supervision on this conviction, Burgess said.
