Anchorage July 4th Celebration and Parade: 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on the Delaney Park Strip.

• Pancake breakfast 8-11:30 a.m., at H Street; picnic 11 a.m., between E and L streets;

• Parade starts at 11:30 a.m., Ninth Avenue from E Street to P Street, 10th back to E. (279-7500)

• Independence Day Celebration, 1 p.m., between Ninth and 10th. Veterans Memorial Flag, celebrate with Revolutionary War costumes, a flag salute, songs, readings and more. (786-4740)

• Kite Day, 1-6 p.m., Park Strip at E Street.

• 50th Statehood Anniversary aerial photo: gather at 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Flag, Park Strip at I Street, to be in this historic photo.

EVENTS WITH ADMISSION FEE

• Salmon Bake and Fly By, 3-9 p.m., Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum 4721 Aircraft Drive. Vintage aircraft fly over Lake Hood, all-you-can-eat buffet of grilled salmon, burgers, hotdogs, salads and dessert. • Midnight Sun Alaskan Regional Chili Cook-off, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Park Strip. Entry fee is $42 for membership in the International Chili Society plus $35 for chili contest and $20 for salsa contest. • Parade in Wasilla, 11 a.m., starts on Tommy Moe Drive, turns onto Herning, then Yenlo to Swanson to make a circle. Community picnic, 1 p.m. at Wonderland Park. Fireworks at the park, 11:30 p.m. (357-9100)

• Constitution monument dedication, 10 a.m. in the Iditapark's Honor Garden, corner of Lucille and Nelson Ave.. Wasilla Sunrise Rotary club and former Wasilla mayor Harold Newcomb's family donate granite monument to the City of Wasilla to recognize Americans' public freedoms. (357-8510)

• Dog Costume Contest, 2 p.m., Willow Community Center, Mile 69.5 Parks Highway. The Willow Dog Mushers Association contest for canines and owners (12-and-up or 12-and-under). Prizes, a cookout and more. $2. (495-3251, www.willowdogmushers.com)
