AKIACHAK -- A 13-year-old boy was sent to the hospital Saturday after he suffered an accidental gunshot wound while shooting at targets, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The unnamed boy was treated and released Saturday at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp. emergency room for the wound through a soft-tissue area on his right forearm, troopers said.
An investigation revealed the boy was target shooting with other children at a fish camp near Akiachak when a .22-caliber rifle fired and the child was struck. An investigation is continuing.
