Gov. Sarah Palin was not injured in a four-car fender bender on the Glenn Highway Tuesday morning, her spokeswoman said today.
Palin was driving the state's Chevy Suburban and slowed for traffic around 9:30 a.m. on the Glenn Highway near Bragaw Street when a vehicle behind her rear-ended her, spokeswoman Sharon Leighow said. The impact started a chain reaction with the governor's vehicle pushed into the car in front of her, and that car hitting the one in front of it.
The governor was alone, driving from her home in Wasilla to her downtown office in the Atwood Building.
She was wearing her seat belt. The airbag did not deploy.
The state vehicle sustained several thousand dollars worth of damage, Leighow said.
Anchorage police responded to the accident, and Palin continued on to work.
Leighow said she believed no one in any of the vehicles was injured.
Palin is in Anchorage today and scheduled to fly to the National Governor's Association meeting in Philadelphia tonight, Leighow said.
