ANIAK -- A commercial aircraft crash-landed into the Kuskokwim River shortly after taking off Monday, coming to rest on the edge of an island after it apparently lost power while in the air, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The aircraft went down with eight people, including the pilot, aboard, troopers said. Witnesses to the accident took boats to the scene and ferried the people to the Aniak Clinic, where they were treated for what appeared to be minor injuries, troopers said.
The National Transportation Safety Board is en route to the scene to begin an investigation, troopers said.
