The 12-year-old killed early Saturday morning while trying to cross the Glenn Highway has been identified as Brandy Oktollik.
She lived in Anchorage with her parents, Ashley and Molly Oktollik, said her grandfather, Martin Oktollik of Point Hope.
Also killed was 16-year-old Jenilee Francis, who recently moved to Anchorage from the Western Alaska village of Chevak. Police say Francis was drunk, as were two other women trying cross the highway, 18-year-old Maryann Kanrilak and 23-year-old Leona Asicksik, both of Anchorage.
The group was crossing the highway at a construction site near Bragaw Street. Police said the four climbed a concrete wall in the construction zone and crossed the highway illegally, about 75 feet away from a legal crosswalk.
The truck was driven by Joseph Gilpin of Wasilla, who was towing a large boat. It was dark when the wreck happened, around 12:13 a.m., and the girls were wearing dark clothes, police said.
