A woman was stabbed by a drinking buddy Monday night after the man accused her of shorting him on change from the liquor store, according to Anchorage police.
Stephen Borozny, 52, was booked in the Anchorage jail on a first-degree assault charge with bail set at $5,000 following the attack at about 11:20 p.m. in front of Spirits of Alaska liquor store on Gambell Street, police said.
The victim, Francis Katongan, suffered a non life-threatening stab to her stomach after she and two men took a cab to the store to buy beer, police said. The men sent her in with $50, and when she came back she handed Borozny $12 in change, according to police.
The man claimed she owed him more money back, police said. He got out of the cab's front seat, opened the back door and stabbed her in the abdomen, police said. The man then snatched the beer and ran off.
The cab driver followed the suspect and guided police to him. Katongan was hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
