FAIRBANKS - Authorities say a Fairbanks-based Alaska state trooper has been charged with forging prescriptions for narcotic pain medications.
Troopers allege Scott Ide forged prescriptions four times this year and tried a fifth time. Troopers say Ide told investigators the medicine helped an injury he suffered while serving in the Army.
Troopers say a doctor alerted authorities to the alleged forgeries.
Ide has been charged with one felony count of having "intent to defraud, made or caused a false entry in the business records of an enterprise."
The 43-year-old Ide was hired as a trooper in 2004. Formerly posted in Palmer, he transferred to Fairbanks in January.
