CARIBOU HILLS -- A Ninilchik woman was attacked and killed by her stud horse, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Sherrill Yates-Lukinich, 48, was working with the horse alone in a barn last weekend, so what may have prompted it was not clear, said troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters.
After the animal began stomping and biting her, Yates-Lukinich's husband heard the commotion, ran to the scene and pulled the horse off of her, Peters said.
She died before medics arrived on scene to treat her injuries.
The owner then "took it upon himself to get rid of the horse," she said.
