Elections Director Gail Fenumiai said today she decided to hold off a final count for one week, until Sept. 17.

She says the State Review Board is making substantial progress in its review of precinct materials and all absentee and questioned ballots that had been counted as of Friday.

She says stopping to count remaining ballots would impede its progress.

The division target to certify the election is Sept. 18.

Absentee ballots from overseas were being accepted through Wednesday.

In the Republican race for U.S. House, incumbent Don Young leads Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell by 239 votes.
