35-foot fishing vessel towed to safety

KODIAK -- The U.S. Coast Guard towed a disabled fishing vessel that lost power to safety in Lazy Bay on Kodiak Island.

The 35-foot Letun had lost power and was adrift 500 yards north of Sitkinak Island at about 8 a.m. Thursday, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard cutter Hickory received a distress call from the vessel and diverted to assist it.

The Letun was towed 25 miles and arrived at Lazy Bay at about 3 p.m.
