The Coast Guard located and rescued four boaters on board the 16-foot vessel Sure Shot, which was reported overdue sEPT. 20, 2008, by the Whittier Police Department. Whittier Coast Guard auxiliary personnel towed the Sure Shot from Bettles Bay to Whittier shortly after an MH-60 rescue helicopter crew located the beached vessel.

WHITTIER -- Four overdue boaters who ran their vessel aground after running low on fuel were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The crew of the 16-foot Sure Shot was reported missing by the Whittier Police Department after they called 911 and connected with police in Valdez, who contacted their counterparts in Whittier, the Coast Guard said.
An MH-60 rescue helicopter from Cordova found the vessel grounded in Bettles Bay on Port Welles at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Personnel from the Coast Guard auxiliary towed the vessel back to Whittier.
The four boaters, identified as Scott Wyland, Marvin Fox, Ulas Secker and Martina Shangin, reported no injuries.
