Home energy opportunities: Alaska Housing Finance Corporation now has three programs to help Alaskans reduce energy bills on their homes. Under the Home Energy Rebate Program, homeowners who want to make their own energy-efficiency improvements on their home can receive a rebate for some or all of their expenditures. The Home Energy Rebate Program has no income requirements. The second program is the Weatherization Program, available to Alaskans who meet certain income and eligibility guidelines. The third program is the Second Mortgage Program for Energy Conservation. Borrowers apply to AHFC for financing to make cost-effective energy improvements on owner-occupied properties.
