17 ITEMS: Programs for Progress sent to 60 state legislators.
PALMER -- It's 2013 and residents here might just see a couple of things intended to improve the quality of life: a clubhouse at the golf course where meetings would be held and dinners eaten.
And there will be a new soccer field where kids can compete and blow off some energy.
Those are a couple of expenditures the city has on its five-year plan called Programs for Progress.
The 17 items on the wish list are compiled into a booklet about an inch thick and sent to all 60 state legislators. In addition, two copies go to the governor's office.
City Manager Bill Allen said the list can be funded in any order the state decides. In other words, if the money holders in Juneau decided the golf clubhouse should be funded now instead of in 2013, that could happen.
Typically the funds come from the city's coffers with help from state and federal grants.
