Municipal budgets to be topic of public hearing tonight

The first in a series of public hearings about the city's operating and capital improvements budgets for general government and public utilities is scheduled for tonight in the Anchorage Assembly's chambers at Z.J. Loussac Library, 3600 Denali St.

The hearings will be part of a meeting that begins at 6 p.m. The budget hearings appear later in the agenda.

Additional budget hearings are scheduled for Oct. 28 and Nov. 18.

Mayor Mark Begich has proposed a $435 million operating budget for next year.
