Child accidentally shot in Chevak

An 11-year-old Chevak girl was shot in the head Sunday in an apparent gun-cleaning accident, according to a report from the Alaska State Troopers.

Morris Aguchak, 49, of Chevak was unloading a shotgun around noon when it discharged, hitting the girl, the troopers said in a written report.

The girl was flown to Anchorage, where she is being treated. Her condition was not immediately known.
