Mary Friday died Sunday after being flown to Anchorage to be treated for her injuries, troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said.

Her father, Morris Aguchak, 49, of Chevak was unloading a shotgun around noon Sunday when it discharged, hitting the girl, Peters said.

The medical examiner was planning to conduct an autopsy and toxicology tests, although alcohol did not appear to be involved, she said.
