The tunnel to Whittier is now open after a problem with a safety door shut it down Wednesday.
The state Department of Transportation says the problem was detected Wednesday and a crew began repairs in the afternoon.
A sailing of the ferry Aurora, bound for Valdez, was delayed to wait for traffic through the tunnel.
The malfunctioning door is on the Whittier end. It drops down to stop traffic if there's a fire or other problem.
Tunnel manager Gordon Burton says the door had just replaced a previously problematic door.
