STABLE CONDITION: Three hurt by booby trap in house.
FAIRBANKS -- Three Fort Wainwright soldiers serving in Iraq were injured Sunday when they entered a booby-trapped house, according to a report in Stars and Stripes, a military newspaper.
Their names have not been released.
The three were on patrol in the Diyala province. They entered a house and were injured by an explosion.
The soldiers were flown to Balad, Iraq, for treatment and were listed in stable condition.
The wounded soldiers are part of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division currently serving in the war zone. About 4,200 soldiers from Interior Alaska deployed to Iraq in September.
The incident was the second that caused significant casualties to members of the brigade.
One soldier died Oct. 16 and another was fatally injured when a forward operating base in Baqouba was attacked.
Several other soldiers also were injured in that attack.
