Light and heat have been restored to the West High School building, so all after-school activities scheduled for today will take place as planned, the Anchorage School District has announced.
West High will reopen Thursday for regular classes.
ASD administrators canceled classes at West today because of a power outage.
The main transformer that supplies electricity to the building faltered, sending only minimal power to the building, according to Anchorage School District spokeswoman Heather Sawyer.
Superintendent Carol Comeau decided before 5 a.m. to cancel classes because she worried it would be too cold in the building, Sawyer said.
The outage was localized to West High. Adjacent Romig Middle School continued with school as planned.
It was below 20 degrees throughout Anchorage this morning, and the temperature is expected to hover in the teens for the rest of the day, according to the National Weather Service.
Sawyer said Comeau would decide if the classes would have to be made up or if the school would use one of its few "snow days" already calculated into the year's schedule.
The high school, the district's oldest, serves 1,900 students.
