Alaskans who ask that their Permanent Fund dividend be direct deposited in a bank account will get their money on Oct. 9, the PFD division has announced.
Those who choose to have checks sent to them with have to wait until after Nov. 5, when the mailing of checks will begin, says an e-mail sent to online filers late Wednesday.
Nearly 65,000 early applicants had already filed online by Thursday afternoon, according to division statistics: 64,421 by 3:24 p.m..
Division Director Deborah Bitney was particularly pleased that so many Alaskans -- almost 80 percent -- were choosing the so-called "eSignature" option, which allows applicants to file an official signature online and not have to mail one in. Using the eSignature greatly reduces the amount of mail and paper the division has to handle.
