The Ketchikan Gateway Borough's new economic development manager is on the job and she says there are tremendous opportunities for the community. Deborah Hayden started work two weeks ago.
She describes her job as providing decision-makers with a base of economic information so they can choose the community's economic direction.
Hayden says community leaders may want consider development tools such as a business improvement district or money for business recruitment and retention.
Hayden will collect information on possible development at Ward Cove.
She says if the borough Assembly decides to subdivide its property there, she will be assigned marketing responsibilities.
