A man was shot to death in an Anchorage neighborhood early this morning, police said, although few details are being released.
Police were called to near the corner of Lake Otis Parkway and Oak Drive, in the Airport Heights neighborhood, a little before 7 a.m., police said. Residents called police to report gunshots and yelling, police spokesman Lt. Paul Honeman said in a written statement.
Officers found a man on the ground outside who had been shot multiple times, Honeman said. He was pronounced dead later at Alaska Regional Hospital.
The man's name has not been released pending notification of his family, Honeman said.
"An adult male was contacted near the scene where the victim was located," the police statement said. "APD Detectives will question him as to his involvement in this incident."
Detectives from the Homicide unit are investigating the case. The area where the shooting occurred is a residential neighborhood just north and up a hill from the Chester Creek greenbelt.
