The third body found outdoors in Anchorage in the last week was discovered Thursday in Campbell Park near Tudor Road, according to Anchorage police.

All were found in different places around town, and police say none of the deaths appear related.

"We can't call it a trend because it could be three completely unrelated incidents," police Lt. Dave Parker said. "Nothing has been discovered in terms of foul play in any of them."

The body found Thursday -- that of an adult male -- was discovered by a 28-year-old man in the woods near the park at Tudor and Lake Otis Parkway, Parker said.

Police initially said the body was discovered by a child. That error apparently was caused by miscommunication between officers and dispatchers.

The state medical examiner took custody of the corpse to confirm a tentative identity and to perform an autopsy, he said. Homicide detectives were working with the medical examiner to ensure nothing "untoward" had taken place, he said.

Officials were working to notify the family.

Just Tuesday afternoon, a male corpse was discovered in a tent in a homeless camp downtown near the Anchorage jail. That man has yet to be identified.

The first body was found last Thursday by a volunteer in the annual Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Citywide Cleanup. Police later identified him as Anchorage resident Stanley Ivey.

Ivey was found in the Chester Creek greenbelt, about 200 yards east of the Seward Highway, near its intersection with East 20th Avenue.

An examination by the state medical examiner revealed no signs of homicide, but the exact cause of death had yet to be determined, Parker said. Ivey's family has been notified.
