Several oragnizations, including Bristol Bay Borough Fire, the Bristol Bay Police, the Naknek Electric Association, along with EMTs, the Department of Transportation and Chugiak Support Services, were dispatched to a fire at the Quinnat hotel in King Salmon early in the morning, Aug. 3, 2006. The Quinnat is a total loss, valued at approximately 2 million dollars. There was no loss of life and everyone got out safely.

Fire destroys hotel in King Salmon

KING SALMON, Alaska (AP) _ At 3:05 this morning (Thursday), police dispatcher Theresa Coghill got a call from the manager at the Quinnat Landing Hotel in King Salmon. He told her the hotel, the village's largest, was on fire. Officials say no one was hurt in the blaze. By Thursday afternoon, officials had declared the two (m) million dollar hotel a total loss.

Coghill says the loss of the hotel, which catered to sport fishermen and hunters, will have a big impact on the economy in the 420-person community.

King Salmon is located on the Alaska Peninsula, 284 miles southwest of Anchorage.
