Alaska State Troopers have announced the creation of two more highway safety corridors, aiming to reduce the number of traffic fatalities.
Troopers say the highway safety corridors will officially be designated as such on July 1.
The corridors will be on the Sterling Highway from Mile 83 to Mile 93 and the Knik-Goose Bay Road from Mile .6 to Mile 17.
Road crews are preparing to install signs.
All fines for traffic violations in the designated areas will be double the normal amount.
There are two other highway safety corridors in Alaska. They are located along the Parks Highway from Mile 44.5 to Mile 53 and the Seward Highway from Mile 90 to Mile 117.
