When police arrived Thursday afternoon at the Juneau building, a man reported to be a maintenance worker was trying to talk the woman to safety.

A witness says as officers were talking to her, the woman apparently lost her footing on the ledge, tried to grab the railing but fell to the ground.

KINY Radio reports she was declared dead at Bartlett Regional Hospital.
