A two-vehicle collision on the Kenai Peninsula’s Sterling Highway Thursday evening has resulted in injuries to two people and the closure of the highway, Alaska State Troopers said.
The crash occurred sometime before 6:15 p.m. at Mile 107 of the Sterling, about 10 miles south of Soldotna, near Kasilof, troopers said.
The highway is expected to be closed for about two hours as medical personnel attend to the victims and troopers investigate the crash.
The condition of the victims was not immediately available.
Troopers said at about 6:45 p.m. that two LifeGuard helicopters were headed to the scene to evacuate the victims.
“Traffic can get around the road closure by using K-Beach Road as a detour,” the troopers said in a written statement.
Road closure updates can be checked on the Web at 511.alaska.gov.
