This year’s Alaska Permanent Fund dividend is $1,654.

“Oh, baby!” Gov. Sarah Palin said as she announced the amount this afternoon at the Valdez Convention and Civic Center.

The money comes from investment profits generated by the Permanent Fund, the state’s $39 billion oil-wealth savings account.

Last year’s dividend was $1,106.96.

The state will make dividend payments to qualified Alaska residents beginning Oct. 3.
